Neossance™ Hemisqualane

Hemisqualane is a plant-derived non polar C15 Hydrocarbon. It is a perfect alternative for petroleum-based paraffins and silicone ingredients. It has a great sensorial profile providing unique qualities including being a non-volatile emollient with a light and dry feel. In skincare, it creates elegant and light textures with a non-tacky, non-greasy and silky finish. Its ability to dissolve crystalline UV filters also makes it an ingredient of choice for sun care products. In makeup, it facilities a smooth and even application for lipsticks and foundations. It aslo demonstrates excellent cleansing properties for makeup removal, including waterproof formulations like mascaras. With high spreadability and soft after feel, it is also the ideal ingredient for hair care applications, leaving the hair smooth and soft without weighing it down. As one of the leaders in “Active Beauty”, trying to shape the future with cleaner and better solutions, it was a natural challenge to develop a new and revolutionary hemisqualane, obtained through white biotech from sustainable Brazilian sugarcane. Givaudan’s Neossance™ Hemisqualane is made via (white technology) fermentation of Bonsurco-certified renewable sugarcane. Our sugarcanes grow in coastal Brazil without irrigation and far from the forest. Bonsuro is a global non-profit organisation funded by the World Wildlife Foundation that promotes sustainable sugarcane production, processing, and trade.
